Hi everyone. Some of you might remember me from the WOW forum. Like other WOW board owners and for reasons that I'm sure many here already experienced, I'm thinking of changing server soon. I have the large WOW hosting package and it isn't due for renewal until October so time is on my side. I'm not sure if the WOW 2.0 is for me and I wanted to know; Can I initially transfer my WOW 1.7 board and Photopost gallery here? Will my Photopost gallery integrate with WOW Ultra if I upgrade/change to that? Is it a big job changing from WOW 1.7 to Ultra? If I buy WOW Ultra and eventually decide I don't like it and decide to transfer to say VBulletin, will the WOW Ultra DB transfer into it? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Wingnutter, welcome to Ultra! We would be happy to have you on the Ultra system. I will send you a PM asking for some details because I see your site is huge and want to make sure the transfer would go smoothly before we proceed. Photopost gallery as well as photopost classifieds work well with Ultra. The integration is only different by cookie name. We have to add some fields to the database, I have a converter file that does all that automatically. We do the entire conversion for you. I have heard of a WowBB to Vbull database converter but I also heard it is pricy, don't know for sure. You would loose the additional "ultra" functions due to it using additional fields not of the original wowbb. Our hosting is open to any board system so if you wanted to eventually switch you could remain here. Jim

Thanks for the welcome guys. One last question for now please. If I were to buy Ultra and set it up on the server here, would it make sense for me to tweak the layout and colours like my current forum before migrating that forums membership etc across, or better to upgrade to Ultra first on the WOW server and then migrate the whole lot over to here?

It is always best to develop the style/look then import the data. An easy way to do this would be to start a trial board and play with it, we can use that style for the board when we import it.

Hi Wing. i said this in the other thread but wanted to say it again. I checked out VB pretty hard for my new forum that will be launching soon. I compared features and all available info, and found Ultra to be on par with it. Now I know you don't need me to help "sell" it to you and you are an experienced forum administrator, but I thought I would mention my research of VB vs Ultra before I made the decision to go with Ultra for my new forum. Either way I would be happy to give you my feedback privately if needed. I am about to launch the new site and almost have everything set up to roll. I would be happy to let you see whatever you want to.
