Hi all.  I have wowbb 1.7 and the community board has been down for a long time.  Does this mean wowbb is no longer?  I'm concerned.

Can one upgrade to wowultra and import my wowbb database or should one? Can I upgrade to WowUltra from wowbb for smaller cost? and HOW much?

Does wowultra have the spambot Mod registration from wowbbstyles which works on the regular wowbb already configured/included in wowUltra?  If not is the mod  compatible with wowultra

Should I just wait for Wowbb 2.0 the new version.

Waiting for the new Wowbb or switching to Ultra is entirely your choice.

The fate of the WowBB community board is unknown, I do not work for Wow any more.

We have a database converter and can change a WowBB into a WowUltra no problem, you will not lose any information from the old database but you will gain several abilities.
http://wowultra.com/features.php
http://wowultra.com/115.php

Unfortunately Ultra does not have a lease program so licenses have to be purchased in full which can be done here:
http://wowultra.com/order.php

We have our own custom spambot control, a form of captcha using an unusual font type. We have had no reports of any bot being able to crack it. All the Ultra additions were created and written by ourselves, we employ no 3rd parties for code.

Best way to experience the power is to start a 30 day free trial:

Good to see you here :)

Wowbb is still going, it is just the public forums that have been removed.

You will need to buy an Ulra License $99 and here is a link to the packages on offer and the cost
http://www.data1systems.com/

When we came over to Ultra Jim moved all our files from Wowbb and everything went a smooth as silk. I for one would highly recommend Ultra and I am sure lots of others on here would agree with me.

I can't answer about the spammer mod from Wowbbstyles but Ultra uses Catchpa and we have not had any spammers since we have been using it.

Oops looks like Jim and I were replying at the same time.

i should also add that since we only convert the database, any custom themes or mods you have installed on your site will not transfer over to Ultra.

Besides myself, there are 2 other members who are authorized to design themes for the Ultra software, Bouttime and Liz.

Well this is enticing and I appreciate the feedback. Since I purchased wowbb for $99 to spend another $99 the next year is too much for me. I'll have to see how much it would cost me to upgrade to the new wowbb 2.0. If I don't like the look of it, it is nice to know that I can easily convert to this since the code here was based on wowbb right? The only mod I would lose is the only one I have which is the wowbb styles spambot registrant which worked flawlessly for me. Thanks for your replies and I'll stop in often to see ya'll.

Joe

Hi Joe. I think we are all very happy with the move here, everything runs very smoothly and the support is the absolute bes. If you decide to move here, we will all be glad to have another familiar name aboard.

Regards,
Steve.

PS; If you have a few members on your forum Joe, you could do a fundraiser and the members might raise the $90 for the move. It's easy to put a Paypal donations button on your forum and it can't hurt to try.

Joe,

I felt the same way, but now that I did it, I would do it again tomorrow!

Ultra took my site to the next level, and Jim and Di's service is over the top.

I have absolutely no regrets, and my community is extremely satisfied.

Wingnutter gave some sound advice. If the people on your site enjoy being there, they won't mind chipping in

No I haven't since I'm not sure how to approach it. I believe my wife has a paypal account but we haven't used it in 2+ years.   My forum is here: http://www.batnic.org/forum/.  Thank you for your generous consideration. :)

Your wife will be able to visit Paypal and get the code for a donations button. It's fairly quick to set up. I just put the code into my forum footer and it shows up in all the pages.
