With regard to the sound Martin, it's a couple of squeeky Oh, oh's. I have just tried that 'New Message' thet Natfam showed and it works great. Hope I'm not using up someones bandwidth by using it.

It's Jim's bandwidth. But only a very tiny bit of it.

Ideally you should download the file and upload it to your own hosting instead.

I've uploaded the cymbals sound again. I can't find any sound resembling train or engine noises. Maybe a setting somewhere on your sound card is responsible?

Martin.

Where are the wav files for the Windows sounds to be found on the computer? There might be something there I could use.

C:\WINDOWS\Media
folder.

Double-click on them to hear them.

Some of them are very short. Change the LOOP="2" number in the BGSOUND tag to something higher so that they repeat for longer.

Martin.

Hi Bob,

Add:

<br><img src="http://wowultra.com/forum/attachment.php?id=255">

Assuming Jim doesn't mind. :)

Ideally right-click on it, save it (in GIF format), upload it to your hosting and replace the URL above with the uploaded file's URL.

Martin.

Where do I upload it to exactly Martin?

Hi Bob,

Where do I upload it to exactly Martin?

Right-click on the picture on here. Click Save Picture As...  Choose somewhere on your computer to save it. It's called newpm.gif *

Then using cpanel upload it to a folder on your hosted web space. I suggest using the new img folder which you created yesterday, exactly as before.

Then add this code to both of the pm boxes in the Language Editor:

<br><br><img src="http://yourmodelrailway.net/img/newpm.gif">

(Be aware that because you are using the Language Editor for these changes, only your members who have the forum set to English language will see the results. If you know of members using a different language, you can swap to that language in the drop-down list on the left, and make the same changes again there. Keep a note of the changes you have made in the Language Editor and Theme templates, because after Jim's upgrade you will very likely need to enter them again.)

*because it's an animation, I would rename it when saving it as new_pm_ani.gif if it was me, but it isn't, it's you. :)

p.s. Jim -- I've just discovered that the code bbtags don't work in Quick Reply. :?

regards,

Martin.

I have uploaded the gif into my img file as you suggest Martin, also renamed it and it works a treat. Once more I must thank you for your patience and time freely given to help me out. Thanks to everyone else too.

Found a sound file that's just right for my PM's and I have actually managed to get it uploaded and working on my forum. Some of the things you are trying to teach me must be sinking, in so perhaps we pensioners aren't too old to learn new tricks. ;) :)

Make sure you save the documents you did this by, the next upgrade will wipe it out. The new code might or might not be accepting of that particular code.

I want a picture of a guy on a goldwing and when you have new PM's, he waves at you.... or the front end of a goldwing, and new Pm's make the headlights modulate...

Do you mean this sort of thing Devans?  It might be a bit large though.
