I was just thinking today when I came into the forums after being away for the weekend, just how different things are here.  There was no list of complaints or moans about people's sites being down or things not working.

Isn't it just great!

and the server speed is just terrific. one little indicator i use to tell the performance of a web host is how well ftp transfers do. i was downloading and uploading large amounts of files today and was blown away at how fast files and folders were flying. simply outstanding, great great job.

Same experience at my end. I'm actually getting forum members (many of them I never even knew existed) sending me PM's with very positive comments about the speed and uptime. It makes a change to what I used to constantly get before.

As it's a month tomorrow since Jim move me to the server here, this thread was timed well. Thanks Mag.

This thread just reminded me that on June 5th. I asked (very nicely as well) in Private Support on the old place if it was possible to have a refund on the unused hosting (almost 5 months worth left on the large $215 package which I paid for in full), seeing as I'd already moved here and wouldn't be needing it any more.
I logged in there just now and I'm sure that none of you will be surprised to know that so far I've heard....

... not a thing. No reply at all to my PM after 25 days.
I wasn't too worried about a refund. If it was possible to have one that was cool, and if not then that's cool as well. It would have been nice to get an acknowledgement at least after almost 4 years over there, it's not like I'm a nuisance customer and I think I always played politely and supported the staff right to the end.

Anyway, life here is much better. The loyal girls and guys on my forum who returned daily through thick and thin are much happier now and many asked me to say a big thanks to Jim and Di for the major improvements. So on behalf of the gang at Steve Saunders Goldwing Page;

:) Thanks Jim & Di :)

Regards,
Steve.

WingManSteve,
(btw - I liked the "Deniro" avatar... I didn't mean it in a bad way.)
Just a note of caution. If you paid with Paypal make sure you cancel the subscription that WOWbb automatically sets up with Paypal to take your money out on your anniversary date. They do not cancel them I guess as I was moved and long gone when they took my money for another year.

As for this being a happy, shiny place.

Ain't it GRAND?

:)

Stoney

Yes I did that Stoney. To be fair, it's up to us to cancel it in our paypal accounts and if we don't the money will go out automatically.

I went through all my documents (I have every single one) and it was never conveyed to me that it would be set up that way. I had no idea until the money was taken out.

Just wanted others to avoid having their money tied up for weeks like mine was.

i agree with stoney. you should able to cancel your plan from where you ordered it. i used a credit card, so i had to go directly to 2checkout, the payment gateway wow uses to make sure they wouldn't bill me again. wow should have just stopped billing when i told them too.

The word subscription implies that it is automatic. We only process payments through paypal but our subscriptions to hosting are automatic also.

It is good advice to cancel a subscription through whoever you paid through.

We all owe wow a lot for bringing us together if for nothing else, let's try to stay positive and continue moving forward.

For some ( including myself) the Paypal subscription screen can be hard to find. So in case any are as dense as me:

If you would like to cancel a subscription, log in to your PayPal account and go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose a subscription, and click on its "Status." You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription. Cancelling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments for a subscription.

Yes it's not something most of us would even think about and a heads-up is nice to have. Someone else here reminded me to check it out and I discovered the recurring charge in my Paypal acount.
